Tragic Shooting Claims Life at Wegmans Warehouse

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Tragedy struck on Saturday evening at the Wegmans Warehouse in Gates, where a young man in his 20s lost his life in a shooting incident.
Chief Robert Long of the Gates Police Department addressed the media shortly after the event unfolded. According to Long, police were dispatched to the warehouse at 4:15 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds; unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.



Following the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled the scene. Authorities have reassured the public that there are no immediate threats to nearby businesses or the community.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Gates Police Department, and Greece Police Department all responded to the incident.
Currently, officials do not believe this shooting is connected to another incident that occurred outside an Amazon Distribution Center in Gates the day before.
As the investigation continues, the details surrounding the events leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and the identity of the suspect has yet to be released.
